Judge Patrick McCartan told the jury of five women and six men to leave aside any "hard views" relating to banking; any particular institutions and the events of the past - because Anglo Irish Bank is not on trial.
Instead, he outlined the cases for the three people on trial, accused of trying to conceal accounts connected to the bank’s former Chairman Sean FitzPatrick.
They are 56-year-old former chief operating officer Tiarnan O’Mahoney of Glen Pines, Enniskerry; Co Wicklow, 67-year-old former company secretary Bernard Daly of Collins Avenue West in Dublin; and 62-year-old former assistant manager Aoife Maguire of Rothe Abbey, South Circular Road.
Before the jury broke for deliberations, Judge McCartan told the court that the more each of the defence teams can amplify the role of Sean FitzPatrick and his misbehaviour, the better for each of their cases.
The judge told the jurors that they were now 11 judges of fact and they must be unanimous in their verdict.
