Dublin City Council has said its water supply is safe, despite nightly restrictions due to breakages in the public water main and a reduction in production at a treatment plant.
A seasonal algae has entered the filtration system at the plant in Roundwood and slowed down the treatment process.
However, press officer for Dublin City Council Alan Breen said there was no public safety issue.
"The water quality is of the highest order, and the algae is completely harmless," he said.
"We'd like to reassure all consumers that when their water is on, it's perfectly ok. We test our water on a daily basis and there is no issue with it."
