AIB and Ulster Bank customers 'should have wages by now'

AIB and Ulster Bank customers have been told they should now have received any wages they were missing.

Some employees including gardaí, teachers and other public sector workers did not receive their wages as usual this morning because of a problem at Bank of Ireland.

However most affected customers should have received their wages by now, while Permanent TSB customers should have their money shortly.

It was the second time in four weeks that a Bank of Ireland problem left people without wages, and Fine Gael minister Michael Ring said this was not acceptable.

"If your salary was to come today, it should come today," he said, "not tomorrow. If there was a problem there a month ago, it should be resolved (by now). It's just not acceptable"
