Ahern pledges protection for local communities
29/07/2010 - 14:21:12The Justice Minister Dermot Ahern has said ensuring the maximum safety of local communities is "a priority".
It follows the publication of CSO figures which show a growing trend in bank, post office and shop robberies.
The figures show that robberies, hijackings and kidnappings have risen by more than a third.
Fine Gael's Charlie Flanagan has also said the rise in the number of people cultivating and making drugs here is "worrying".
