The Cabinet is expected to take a decision on the sale of Aer Lingus within the next week or so.

The Department of Transport has discussed the issue, including the Heathrow slots, with the European Commission.

Over the weekend, Transport Minister Paschal Donohoe received a report from the expert group set up to advise the Government on the €1.4bn bid from IAG.

Some commentators believe a decsion could be made as soon as tomorrow, although it is not currently on the Cabinet agenda.
