Adams to address Irish conference in London

Gerry Adams will meet with the Irish diaspora in London tonight to address a conference focusing on the Good Friday Agreement along with the past and current difficulties.

The Sinn Féin leader will also deal with recent tensions in Belfast.

Mr.Adams is also expected to welcome remarks by the DUP Leader and First Minister Peter Robinson on Thursday night at a Co-Operation Ireland event which acknowledged the GAA's contribution to better community relations.

Gerry Adams said Mr Robinson's comments are significant.

He said: "When you think that 1,700 of our people are leaving the island every week and a lot of them are coming here to London.

"I think the decision by the Constitutional Convention to give people from the diaspora a vote in presidential elections is a very significant step forward."
