80m tall wind turbine collapses in Tyrone

A wind turbine has collapsed in Co Tyrone.

Locals reported hearing loud noises on Friday from the turbine, which is thought to be 80 metres tall, before a huge bang was heard.

Nobody was hurt in the collapse that happened between Fintona and Fivemiletown on Friday night.

The Ulster Herald reported that a man compared the sound to a bomb exploding.

There are up to 20 wind farms in the Fivemiletown mountain range. The incident is not being treated as a police matter.
