An 80-year-old man has been killed in a collision in Kilkenny.

An 80-year-old man has been killed in a collision in Kilkenny.

The crash happened at around 4:30pm when two cars collided on the N77 Kilkenny-Ballyragget Road at Suttonsrath in Jenkinstown.

An 80-year-old man, the driver and sole occupant of one of the cars, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at scene.

His body was taken to Saint Luke's General Hospital in Kilkenny.

The driver of the second car, a 59-year-old man, suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to Waterford University Hospital.

His condition is described as stable.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to contact them at Kilkenny Garda Station.
