5,000 turnout for Lá Mór na Gaeilge demonstration

Over 5,000 people have turned out in Dublin city centre for a demonstration celebrating the Irish language.

Participants in Lá Mór na Gaeilge are calling for full recognition of the language on both sides of the Irish border.

They also want the Gaeltacht community to be guaranteed State service through Irish by the end of 2016.

Sinn Féin president Gerry Adams commented that the future of the language is in danger without a major increase in government support.
