Some 41% of families spend less than one hour per week being active together.

In a new survey, 59% of people said shopping was their main family activity, above hikes and walks (56%) and visits to the park (54%).

Research by Aviva Health shows Irish adults exercise between three and five times a week on their own and almost a third (32%) of adults with kids never take part in any physical activities with their family.

Despite these findings, the majority of families rated themselves highly on fitness levels.
