A €3.7m funding package has been announced to improve transport links in and around Galway city.

€3.7m Galway transport plan announced

A €3.7m funding package has been announced to improve transport links in and around Galway city.

The funding will go towards the walking, cycling and public transport links for city commuters.

Junior Transport Minister Alan Kelly said that €1m will be spent on a redesign of the city's train station with a pedestrian link to the coach station.

Bus and cycle lane demand will be assessed and the possibility of developing a greenway will also be examined.
