35,000 submissions made to pylon public consultation

The extent of the public's anger on pylons has become apparent this evening with the revelation that a whopping 35,000 submissions have been made during the public consultation.

A statement from Energy Minister Pat Rabbitte says they're now being "sifted through" and he has asked Eirgrid to provide him with a list of the main issues raised around the €500m gridlink project.

Minister Rabbitte said he expects to be able to make a Dáil statement on the public consultation by the end of the month.
