Over €23m is required to repair damage caused along county Clare's coastline during the recent spell of stormy weather.

Over €23m is required to repair damage caused along county Clare's coastline during the recent spell of stormy weather.

The full financial cost has been revealed to County Councillors, who held a special meeting in Ennis this afternoon.

Lahinch has been identified as being in the biggest need of funds, with the bill there currently standing at over €5.8m.

In all, problems have been identified in 23 different areas in Co Clare and the total figure includes a 10% contingency fund for unforeseen issues.
