20,000 apply for Gardaí
The Justice Minister Alan Shatter has confirmed 20,000 people have now looked to join An Garda Síochána.
The recruitment drive got underway last month and the closing date for receipt of applications is midnight on Thursday the 9th of January.
The Minister said he is greatly encouraged by the response to the recruitment campaign.
