1916 relatives to meet Minister on lack of invites to centenary events
Relatives of those who fought in the 1916 Rising are meeting the Arts Minister Jimmy Deenihan this morning to ask why they have not been invited to a number of commemorative events.
The 1916 Relatives Association, which includes more than 150 people, says it does not know what the Government is planning for the Centenary, but feels they should be involved.
The relatives have said they would like to work with Minister Deenihan on a solution.
The Association says that there are a number of events - including the Howth Gun Running Centenary - to which no family members have been invited.
Board member Barry Lyons says they're open to discussions on how to mark the events:
