170,000 families to benefit from clothing allowance
21/06/2012 - 19:39:47An estimated 380,000 children from 170,000 families will benefit from the back to school clothing and footwear allowance this autumn.
Some 115,000 families have been sent letters by the Department of Social Protection, telling them when and how their payment will be made.
Those who have not received notification of an automated payment will be required to complete an application form.
€150 is given for eligible children between the ages of 4 and 11, while €250 is given for those who are aged 12 to 22 if they are in full time education.
The Department of Social Protection has earmarked over €63m for this year's scheme.
