A 16-year-old girl has been killed in a car crash in Co Waterford.

A 16-year-old girl has been killed in a car crash in Co Waterford.

She was a passenger in a car that struck a wall on Cliff Road, in Newtown, Tramore, last night. No other vehicle was involved in the crash.

After the crash, she was taken to University Hospital Waterford and passed away late last night. A post mortem will be arranged.

Two other passengers, a female and male, both aged 17, suffered serious injuries and were also removed to University Hospital Waterford.

The male driver of the car, also 17, received minor injuries and was taken to University Hospital Waterford.

The road is currently closed to facilitate Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information to contact them at Tramore on 051 391 620, The Garda Confidential Line, 1800 666111 or any garda station.
