166 new jobs for Dublin

An Irish software firm has announced it is to create 100 new jobs over the next year.

Intercom, based in Dublin and San Francisco, provides a customer communication platform for internet businesses.

It was started by four Irish men in the US five years ago and has just secured another $50m in private funding.

The company already employs 140 people at its base on St Stephens Green in Dublin city centre.

Vice president of technology at Intercom Paul Adams said: "Most of (the new jobs) will be in Dublin; a lot of software engineers, designers, product managers - all the people it takes to build a great product."

The company's research and development centre is in Dublin, and all its products are built in the city.

Meanwhile, 30 new jobs have been announced by CXC, a Dublin-based firm that provides advice and workplace solutions to the corporate market.

The new jobs will be in the areas of multilingual sales, marketing and support at their new European hub in Dublin.

The company's Irish operation is in Smithfield in Dublin.

Also in Dublin, technology firm Pure Storage is doubling its 18 strong workforce at a new support centre by the end of the year.

An additional 18 new jobs are to come on stream as a new Lidl store opens in Dublin's East Wall.
