100 new jobs confirmed for Limerick

One hundred new jobs are being created in Limerick, with a €100m expansion of manufacturing operations at Vistakon.

Vistakon Ireland was established in Limerick in 1996. A subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson, it designs, manufactures and markets the Acuvue range of soft disposable contact lenses, the world’s number one brand.

The company already employs 650 people at the plant in the National Technology Park.

It is one of several Johnson & Johnson companies operating in Ireland, employing a total of 1,900 people.

Recruitment for the new positions is expected to be completed by mid 2013, with the new recruits to be taken on over the next six months.

It is also expected that the 18-month construction phase will create 200 temporary positions.
