10-year-old boy dies in Limerick car accident

A 10-year-old boy has died after he was struck by a car in Co Limerick this morning.

A 10-year-old boy has died after he was struck by a car in Co Limerick this morning.

The accident happened at around 8am in Dereen, about two miles outside Athea.

The boy, who was pronounced dead at the scene, is understood to have been crossing the road at the time.

The road between Glin and Athea, just north of Abbeyfeale, is blocked as a result of the incident and motorists are being advised to take an alternative route until further notice.
