'X Factor' to end next year, says Cowell confidant

Sinitta and Simon Cowell

'The X Factor' will reportedly end next year.

The ITV1 show is currently in its ninth series and singer Sinitta says ex-boyfriend Simon Cowell will axe the programme after the next run in 2013.

She said: "I'm told next year is going to be the last. It'll have been 10 years."

However, a show source insists Cowell, who quit his judging role last year to work on the US version, has no plans to cancel 'The X Factor'.

The insider said: "There are no plans for it to end. It is one of the most successful shows in Britain."

The show's current three-year deal with ITV runs out next year and negotiations on a new contract are expected to start after Christmas.

Meanwhile, 2010 winner Matt Cardle claims 'X Factor' bosses have snubbed him and won’t let him perform his new single on the show.

He said: "If they ask me then I would definitely do it but they won't ask me, I can promise you that."
