Travolta drives wrong way up highway
18/08/2006 - 14:28:11John Travolta escaped a hefty police fine for driving the wrong way along a Texas highway - after local police realised he had just made a simple mistake.
The Grease star, a trained pilot, was in Texas training on a flight simulator on last month when he was caught out by traffic cones on the way back to his hotel and started driving his rental car the wrong way through a construction zone.
He was quickly pulled over by traffic police, who let the movie star go after explaining his mistake.
A local police spokesman insists Travolta escaped a fine because it was obvious to officers who pulled him over that he hadn't been drinking, wasn't impaired and did not cause a problem because traffic was "minimal".
