Take That will act as mentors on this year's 'X Factor'.
The ‘Greatest Day’ hitmakers – Gary Barlow, Mark Owen, Jason Orange, Howard Donald and Robbie Williams, who recently rejoined the group – have been persuaded by the show’s producer Simon Cowell to appear on the talent programme and give advice to wannabe stars.
It had thought the ITV show faced competition from its BBC rival ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ to get the band to on so Simon is extremely pleased with his coup.
A source said: “‘X Factor’ has landed the ultimate trophy by getting Take That. We know the BBC wanted them for ‘Strictly. But we’ve beaten them to it. If the boys had gone for Strictly’ they’d have been singing while a bunch of dancers pranced around them on the show.
“At least with ‘X Factor’ they can use their musical expertise to help the acts.”
Last series, there was a Take That-themed week with Gary and Mark both acting as mentors, while Robbie sang his hit ‘Angels’ with runner-up Olly Murs in the final.
