'Star Trek 2' is likely to be pushed back to a December 2012 release.
The forthcoming sequel - starring Chris Pine as Captain Kirk - was initially planned for a release on June 29 next year, but with the script yet to be finalised it is expected the movie will be moved back to Christmas.
According to Deadline.com, while it is soon to be announced J.J. Abrams will return to direct the second film - after the huge success of the first - it will also be revealed Paramount has pushed back the date by "at least six months" as 13 months would be too short a time to turn around the eagerly anticipated movie.
Zoe Saldana, who plays linguistics officer Uhura, recently revealed her hope the Romulans would play a big part in the movie.
She said: "I can maybe tell you what I'd like to see happen. For Spock and Uhura to really hook up. Or to get to do whatever physical activities. Kick some butt, some Romulan butt."
