Queen 'tribute' to Freddie Mercury is ... a merchandised bottle of Vodka?

Queen have created the "perfect tribute" to Freddie Mercury - a bottle of vodka.

The 'Bohemian Rhapsody' group have teamed up with Stoli spirits producer SPI to mark the 40th anniversary of their hit single 'Killer Queen' with a specially-branded spirit and bottles of the drink, which shares the song's name, will go on sale in the UK later this week.

According to NME.com, guitarist Brian May felt the drink was a perfect choice for the group because the late frontman - who died in 1991 - was such a fan and always drank vodka on tour.

He said: "Freddie loved vodka and used to carry a dry ice cooler full of vodka with him on tour. Killer Queen Vodka is the perfect tribute."

Brian revealed he had recently visited the Stoli production plant in Riga, Latvia, and described it as "the Willy Wonka chocolate factory for adults".

The limited-edition bottle of vodka is 40% proof and described as "well versed in etiquette" and "seven times distilled using an ancient original vodka filtration process of quartz sand and birch charcoal with a unique filtration process at the final stage."
