Press frenzy over Kidman wedding

24/06/2006 - 09:45:17
The media circus was gathering in Australia today for Nicole Kidman’s weekend wedding to country music star Keith Urban.

Kidman and Urban have been swamped with press attention since they jetted into Sydney and confirmed their plans to wed.

But with details of the event being kept secret, the media has gone into overdrive speculating on the ceremony’s finer points.

Several pages of today’s newspapers were filled with possible details of the nuptials, including what the bride would wear, who might be on the guest list, and what will they eat.

Dozens of photographers, hoping to catch a glimpse of the Australian actress, were camped outside the waterfront home of Oscar-winning star once shared with ex-husband Tom Cruise.

“The nerves are fine,” Kidman told reporters as she and Urban drove out of the property last night.

Australian media have widely predicted the pair would exchange vows at a gothic-style stone church overlooking Sydney’s iconic Manly beach shortly after dusk tomorrow.

Expected guests include friends Naomi Watts, Russell Crowe and Hugh Jackman, all fellow actors with Australian ties.

Moulin Rouge director Baz Luhrmann and Australian-born media mogul Rupert Murdoch are also reportedly on the guest list.

It is the first marriage for New Zealand-born Urban but the second for Kidman, whose 10-year marriage to Tom Cruise ended in 2001.

She won an Oscar for her role as Virginia Woolf in the 2002 film, The Hours and he was awarded a Grammy this year for best male country vocalist.
