Police called to fight at Rooney party

A party which England footballer Wayne Rooney hosted for his fiancee’s 18th birthday ended with police being called, it was revealed today.

A fight is understood to have broken out between members of Rooney’s family and friends at the Devonshire House Hotel, in Liverpool, in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Staff dialled 999 after they became concerned about the behaviour of some of the guests at the party for Coleen McLoughlin, which is to feature in a glossy celebrity magazine.

A spokeswoman for Merseyside Police confirmed an incident did take place at the hotel where the party was being held.

She said: “Officers were called to a disturbance at a private party at the Devonshire House Hotel at around 3.30 on Sunday morning.

“Officers attended but no offences were reported and nobody was arrested.”

Rooney was joined by team-mates and around 200 family and friends for the party.

Among the guests were footballers Duncan Ferguson, Franny Jeffers, Richard Wright and Kevin Campbell.
