Paltrow: I'm not a controlling mother

18/05/2005 - 17:53:29
Gwyneth Paltrow is determined not to be so over-protective of her baby daughter Apple that she is seen as a "freak" by other children when she grows up.

Motherhood, and losing her father to cancer, have made the actress appreciate the preciousness of life, and she wants her daughter to enjoy her childhood - particularly her diet.

Paltrow says: "Right now Apple is young and I control what she eats. It's all very healthy. But she's her own person and I will respect who she is. If she doesn't want to be vegetarian or she wants to eat hydrogenated oils and fairy cakes at birthday parties, that's fine.

"I'm not going to be a controlling over-protective hippy. We live in the world we do. I don't want her to be a freak."
