'Old Dogs' sets a new low

Director: Walt Becker
Cast: Robin Williams, John Travolta, Kelly Preston
Cert: PG
With two such sterling stars as Williams and Travolta, even though their recent track record has been dismal, you’d think this looking-after-the-kiddies comedy would be at least watchable.
Alas, it’s such a bad film, so lacking in wit, originality or charm, that it sets a new low for bad movies.
The two play business partners on the verge of a big deal who have to look after Williams’s girlfriend’s (Preston) children while she gets ready for a jail spell.
The film is based on the clapped-out old chestnut of the kids bringing chaos and destruction to the adults and the adults being unable to cope … it’s all been done so often, and so much better, before.
One trusts Williams and Travolta put whatever fees they got for this garbage to good use, like a worthy charity.
