Oasis today confirmed their worst-kept tour secret with the news that they will play for up to 80,000 fans at Slane Castle in Ireland next summer.
Noel Gallagher and guitarist Gem Archer flew in to the legendary Co Meath venue to announce they will headline a gig on Saturday June 20.
Slane has some attracted the biggest names in the industry over the last 25 years, including the Rolling Stones, Madonna, U2 and Queen.
Oasis first supported REM at the castle grounds in the summer of 1995.
Gallagher, whose father hails from nearby Duleek, said fans across Ireland and Scotland have been the best in the world to perform in front of.
“It (Slane) was the biggest gig we’d done at that point in our career and it was the most amount of people we’d played to and it felt quite natural,” he said.
“I remember coming off the stage. I really got addicted to it that night.
“The sight of tens and thousands of people. I remember them all running down the hill. It was a magic event.”
The band members took a break from their current tour, which includes two sell-out shows in Belfast, to announce the Slane date.
Promoter MCD had planned to keep it under wraps, but it proved to be the worst-kept secret in showbiz thanks to leaks on online bulletin boards and blogs.
Oasis, who went straight to the top of the UK album charts and took the second spot in Ireland with the seventh album 'Dig Out Your Soul' this week, will reveal the rest of next year’s dates in the UK tomorrow.
