No charges for Peaches Geldof in shoplifting case

16/03/2011 - 13:54:27
No charges will be brought against Peaches Geldof over accusations that she stole a dress, her spokeswoman said today.

The 22-year-old TV presenter denied allegations that she stole a dress worth £70 (€80.75) from Vintage King in Camden Stables, north London.

A spokeswoman for Geldof said: “We have been contacted by the police today who informed us there was insufficient evidence, they had no intention of speaking to Peaches, and the case had been closed.”

The daughter of Boomtown Rats star Bob Geldof and the late Paula Yates has been linked to – and exonerated over – a string of shoplifting allegations in the past.

Geldof was accused in 2008 of leaving the Victim store near Carnaby Street with a £500 (€576.69) dress but later returned it to the shop, saying there had been a misunderstanding.

She was also wrongly accused of stealing an item of clothing from east London shop Luna & Curious.
