McGregor plays down 'cancer scare'

Actor Ewan McGregor is playing down his recent 'cancer scare' - because his life was not in question.

The Scottish star attempted to deal with his basal cell carcinoma quietly, but word spread that McGregor was battling cancer. However, he hates the idea he is a cancer survivor.

"It is scary when you hear you've got cancer," he said. "I quickly discovered it's a very common and treatable condition.

"I would hate to say I had a cancer scare, because it's not fair to people who really have cancer scares. In my case, my mortality wasn't called into question."
