The manager of U2 has been remembering why he got involved with the band, as a new exhibition cataloging the band goes on display.

Thirty-three photos of the group taken between 1978 and 1981, before they hit the big time, were unveiled at an exclusive event last night.

The snaps will be on display at the Little Museum of Dublin for the next four months.

Speaking at the launch last night, U2 manager Paul McGuinness told Phantom 105.2 why he took on the band.

"They had conviction, intelligence, talent," he said "They weren't particularly good musicians at the beginning, but Bono was clearly an extraordinary performer. He was hunting for contact with the audience."
