Jennifer Lawrence believes ‘The Hunger Games’ are like ‘Keeping Up with the Kardashians’.

The 21-year-old actress – who plays heroine Katniss Everdeen in the film adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ book trilogy - likens the reality show to the movie’s plot, which sees teenagers forced to fight to the death in the name of entertainment.

She said: “I was watching the Kardashian girl getting divorced, and that’s a tragedy for anyone. But they’re using it for entertainment, and we’re watching it.

“The books hold up a terrible kind of mirror: This is what our society could be like if we became desensitised to trauma and to each other’s pain.”

Despite having received an Oscar nomination for her 2010 role in ‘Winter’s Bone’, Jennifer admits she worried author Suzanne wouldn’t like her.

She told Parade magazine: “I was so nervous! I was like, what if she watches me and says I’m awful? But she was wonderful. She’s sweet, and nice, and smart.”

Set to become a household name thanks to the part, Jennifer says she has started making more of an effort with her clothes.

She told more! magazine: "I'm in no way a fashionista. Saying that, however, I don't go outside wearing checked shirts and Crocs anymore. I put myself together a little bit more."
