MTV demands Aguilera cover up
Christina Aguilera’s new video, Can’t Hold Us Down, has been censored by MTV because, say executives, the singer shows too much flesh.
The video was shot by celebrity photographers David La Chappelle, who was ordered to tone it down, although Aguilera was said to be “livid” at the order.
An Aguilera spokeswoman told the New York Post: “She doesn’t say that a male performer would get away with it, but she does feel that there are double standards.”
The video will air now that La Chappelle and Aguilera have made the required changes.
An MTV representative told the newspaper: “MTV has a standards department like any other network. We asked them to make changes, and they did it. The video will air.”
