Jolie in talks for movie on Gucci empire
Angelina Jolie is in talks to star in a new movie about the Gucci fashion dynasty.
The Oscar-winning actress is being lined up to play femme fatale Patrizia Reggiani - the ex-wife of Maurizio Gucci, who was sentenced to 29 years in prison for plotting to murder the fashion guru - in Ridley Scott's 'Gucci'.
The film will be based on the Gucci family in the 70s and 80s, when they were selling $500m (€333m) of product every year.
The relatives were embroiled in lots of fights until Maurizio - grandson of founder Guccio Gucci - emerged victorious in the power struggles to head up the empire.
He was gunned down in front of his Milan apartment in 1995 just as he was about to re-establish the brand, by debuting a line by newcomer designer Tom Ford.
Leonardo DiCaprio is said to be the favourite to play Maurizio, although it has not been confirmed.
