Jackson: I don't need an Oscar

Samuel L. Jackson doesn't need to win an Oscar.

The 'Django Unchained' star has only received one Academy Award nomination in his long career - for a supporting role in 1994's 'Pulp Fiction' - but doesn't feel he needs a gold statue to validate his work.

He said: "I've had a pretty good career. I don't think it will validate my stature in Hollywood one way or another. I've done some pretty interesting things, and it's been a long and rich career."

The 64-year-old star was crowned the highest grossing actor of all time in 2011 - based partly on the success of franchises in which he's appeared, such as 'Star Wars' and 'The Avengers' - which Samuel believes is reward enough.

He said: "[Winning an Oscar] is definitely not going to help my box-office record."

The actor is set to reprise his role as S.H.I.E.L.D. leader Nick Fury in Captain America sequel 'The Winter Soldier' next year, and expects to appear in more Marvel superhero movies.

He added: "I think I've got four or five pictures left on my nine picture deal. I'll just keep showing up."
