Huppert stars in provocative drama
29/04/2005 - 19:48:49In Ma Mère (Revolver), Helene (Isabelle Huppert) takes a mother’s love for her brooding son Pierre (Louis Garrel) a little too literally in this incestuous drama.
With the aid of her partner Rea (Joana Preiss) he is played and preyed upon to stir his passions.
Provocative and strangely arresting, the revealing examination of moral boundaries is also occasionally over the top.
Huppert, recently seen in I Heart Huckabees, gives an uninhibited performance, but even that doesn’t quite rescue this film. Extras include interviews with director Christophe Honoré and one of the stars and an alternative ending.
