Fyodor Bondarchuk’s 9th Company Collectors Edition (Contender, €24.99) is a cracking look at an heroic action by a small Russian unit, who fought off a rebel attack during the Afghan war.

Brilliantly put together to show the horrors of the engagement, the final attacking scene is on a par with many war films.

Apart from a making of feature, a 20 Years Later documentary looks at the story behind the film.
