George Michael is to have his own tribute episode on ‘Glee’, it has been announced.
The ‘Careless Whisper’ singer is having his 1987 album ‘Faith’ re-worked so it can be released worldwide to coincide with the one-off special of the musical drama show.
The third episode of the new series, which starts in the US on September 21 and is due in Ireland on E4 later this year, will see the McKinley High Glee Club performing the pop star’s hits.
‘Glee’ bosses hope it will introduce a “new generation of fans to his music” - despite the fact he has a history of drug and alcohol abuse.
News of his tribute on the clean-cut show comes just a month after he was arrested for smashing his car into a shop.
The 47-year-old star, who only recently ended a two-year driving ban, ploughed his car into a photography shop in north London in the early hours of the morning after attending last month‘s Gay Pride celebrations. He was released on bail.
Other stars to appear on the show include Susan Boyle, in a ‘Glee’ Christmas special, while Beatles legend Paul McCartney will have his hit singles appearing on the show.
‘Glee’ creator Ryan Murphy admitted McCartney had written to him personally to ask him to use his songs in the programme.
He said: “I received some fantastic mixed tapes from Paul McCartney a couple of weeks ago. I thought I was being punked!”
