An interesting film somewhat spoiled by the under-development of both characters and plot, with too many of the former merely half-formed.

The story concerns teenagers Darren (Massoglia) – the good guy – and his pal Steve (Hutcherson) – the bad egg – sneaking into a visiting freak show where the former overhears a conversation that makes him become a vampire, as you well might.

This annoys Steve who’s into vampires and would love to be in his friend’s black cape.

The one good thing about this disappointing film is the performance of Reilly as vampire Larten Crepsley … though he, like you, is still wondering quite what it’s supposed to be about.

Still, if you like vampires in any form you’ll get your teeth into this one.
