The legendary Ennio Morricone will play his first Irish date south of the border this summer.

The most prolific composer in the history of film music will be conducting the Roma Sinfonietta, his 97-piece Italian orchestra, together with a 100-strong choir to perform a concert for the first time on the grounds of the Royal Hospital, Kilmainham on Sunday, July 28.

Esteemed by legendary figures in music such as Quincy Jones and contemporary film directors as Martin Scorsese, Ennio Morricone is an iconic contemporary composer. Some of Morricone's best known films are 'The Good, the Bad and the Ugly', 'Kill Bill' and the recent 'Django Unchanined'.

Morricone is a five-time Oscar nomiee and in 2007 received an honourary Oscar for his “magnificent and multifaceted contributions to the art of film music". Morricone has also won two Grammy Awards, two Golden Globes and five BAFTAs.

He has previously performed in Belfast.

His concert in the grounds of the Royal Hospital, Kilmainham will feature compositions from his 50 years in the business.

Tickets for this fully seated outdoor event will go on sale from www.ticketmaster.ie at 9am, Wednesday April 3 and are priced from €79.50.
