Howard laughs off disclaimer calls
09/05/2006 - 15:55:08The Da Vinci Code director Ron Howard has rejected calls for his film to carry a disclaimer making clear it is a work of fiction.
"Spy thrillers don't start off with disclaimers", he said.
His remarks have drawn criticism from Roman Catholic group Opus Dei who last month called on producers to begin the film with an announcement stating "any similarity with reality is purely coincidental".
Based on Dan Brown's novel, The Da Vinci Code claims Jesus married Mary Magdalene and had children, which was covered up by the Catholic Church. Ron Howard said it was clear the film was "a work of fiction".
