Stewart banked his sperm

Veteran rocker Rod Stewart banked a sample of his sperm because he was worried his advancing years would make conceiving a baby with fiancee Penny Lancaster difficult.

The Maggie May hitmaker knew that if he left a sample of his seed in a sperm bank, the couple would be able to pursue fertility treatment if their attempts to have a child naturally proved fruitless.

Lancaster says: "We did freeze his sperm in case there were going to be any problems."

But the expectant parents, who didn't need to retrieve the 60-year-old's deposit, refused to produce a sample on demand - they preferred to bring one they prepared earlier.

Lancaster continues, "We didn't do it at hospital. We were at home, you know, intimately.

"And then I rushed down in the Ferrari with my handbag and the little vile next to it."
