Mike Myers was shocked to have been overshadowed by the French voice of Shrek, actor Alain Chabat, when they both appeared at the Cannes Film Festival last week for the screening of Shrek the Third.

The comedian has met all 26 foreign 'Shreks' who re-voice his role in their prospective countries, but Myers was surprised to be upstaged by Chabat at the French film event, admitting he's not used to being pushed aside.

He tells British film magazine, Empire: "It was weird in Cannes when we got out of the car at the screening and we're up on the Jumbotron and there's 20,000 people there.

"When Alain Chabat came out people were jumping up in the air, French people exploding, they couldn't believe it. I get out and it's like cricket, cricket, cricket. You know when you open a car door and it makes that ning, ning, ning, ning sound? You could actually hear that.

"I was like: 'Hey, I'm in the movie too. If you were in America, you'd like me.'"
