The Kirklees Rural Police Twitter account, which covers their little area of West Yorkshire, seems, by all accounts, to provide a useful service with appeals for lost dogs and reminders about safe parking taking up the majority of their feed.
So when someone, worried it had been stolen and dumped, handed in a wedding album that they had found in their bin, they decided to use the power of the internet to reunite it with its owners, who were, no doubt, looking for it.
But what might have been a heartwarming little story of saving someone's precious memories turned out a little differently as it became clear that it probably hadn't ended up in the bin by accident.
In fact, definitely not by accident.
Oh.
Writing on Facebook, Kirklees Rural said:
"We like to try and reunite people with lost property....but this has turned out to be totes awkward."
Indeed.
