Fota Wildlife Park have welcomed a new baby tapir and they want us to name him.
The male Brazilian tapir was born three weeks ago to mum Maya and dad Bazil and has already been seen out and about in the Cork wildlife park.
Look how blooming adorable he is.
The little guy is sporting a fetching coat of pale spots and stripes on a reddish brown background which camouflages it in the wild. He will lose the spots and stripes as he gets older.
He is the first tapir to be born in the zoo since 2006.
Fota are hoping the naming competition will increase interest in the tapirs, whose population is declining in the wild.
“We know the public love suggesting names for the animals and we are sure they will come up with another great name following on from the suggestions of ROG the cheetah, Shay Gibbon, Zedward the zebra and Fada the giraffe in the past” said Stephen Ryan, the Head of Marketing at Fota Wildlife Park.
How are we to follow the genius of naming a gibbon Shay Gibbon?
If you have a good suggestion, visit the completion page here and enter the name in the box at the bottom. The winner will be announced May 11 and will win a Wild Experience at the park where they will spend time with the Head Warden behind the scenes.
