A taxi has been filmed on camera getting caught out by the rising sea tide off the coast of England.
The hapless Uber driver tried to race the tide at Holy Island when returning to the British mainland, but had to stop in the middle of the sea at a point on the bridge just above the water to let his passengers get out and wade through the water on foot.
The passengers included a Buddhist monk who didn't seem too perturbed as he waved at the camera.
The footage below shows that the car has Uber markings on the side and the driver giving a little wave before the RNLI turns up in a lifeboat to rescue them.
The causeway to Holy Island has designated safe crossing times warning people when the high tide comes and covers the road, and drivers are supposed to check the high tide times before visiting.
Mark Bradshaw, who caught the incident on his drone camera, said: “I went out to Holy Island with a friend to take footage of the castle.
“We saw the vehicle coming over from the island side. It was very brave of him and I decided to film him.
“I was in the military for 24 years and I’ve seen lots of things but nothing as ridiculous as that."
