CCTV footage has emerged of a heroic newsagent saving the life of a teenager from a horrific knife attack.
The clip shows the teenager rush into Abbas Solak's shop in London as he was being chased by a knifeman wearing a baseball cap and covering his face with his jacket.
The terrified youth holds the newsagent's door closed as the gang ferociously try to smash their way in, but Mr Solak sprints out from behind the counter at the Bon Bon in Hackney and pushes the youth out of harm's way just as the attacker comes at him with a large knife.
Thankfully, the assailant was pulled back by another man, who then sprinted inside before the knifeman's accomplice threw a mop into the shop prior to running away.
Mr Solak said he didn't think about his own safety as he risked his life to save a teenager.
The courageous newsagent told the Hackney Gazette: "You have to be brave sometimes. I didn't think about what could have happened.
"If someone's life is threatened you have to do something."
He said the teenager left after five minutes without saying thank you.
Mr Solak said: "He just left when I was on the phone without saying thank you. I thought about closing up the shop but I had to work. We keep the door open anyway."
Police said nobody was injured in the attack, and they have yet to make an arrest.
