Serena Williams let reporters in no doubt about how she felt at a recent press conference when a reporter asked her why she wasn’t smiling.
Serena was answering questions after her recent win at the U.S Open where she defeated her sister Venus Williams, putting herself into the semifinals.
Looking a bit tired and fed up reporters probably should have asked what they needed and let the poor woman get out of there, but one reporter did the exact opposite and ended up paying for it.
"You just won a match. Normally you smile when you win. You come in here, you laugh," the reporter said. "What happens tonight? Is it because you beat Venus or because you're thinking about what is going on next? What’s wrong?”
"It's 11:30, Serena responded, "to be perfectly honest with you, I don't want to be here. I just want to be in bed right now and I have to wake up early to practice and I don't want to answer any of these questions. And you keep asking me the same questions. It's not really ... you're not making it super enjoyable."
"Just being honest," Serena summarised.
You would think the guy would have learned his lesson after that but instead he attempted to ask another question which was cut off by Serena asking “Is this about Venus again?”
This time the guy took the not so subtle hint and shut up. About time.
